Favorite Spot

My favorite spot at our house right now is sitting at our table on the back porch.
We live on a very quiet street and behind our yard is NJ State land so there are no homes just woods.  One of the reasons we bought this house is because of the back yard so now that the kids are at school all day its nice to sit out side and enjoy the view.

Happy Homecoming

When we drove up to my house all our kids were outside waiting for us.
They were all very excited to see us just as much as we were to see them.
I think Susan was the most excited to see her kids.
We were all excited to be out of the car so it was nice to be able to sit outside and have some dinner together as a family.

Both Aaron and John got cool shirts from PEI.
I brought Katie an Anne doll, every little girl needs one so it was an easy choice.

Zach collects key chains so it was easy for me to find him a cool one from the Island.
Susan and I wanted to get something for dad since he watched our kids for us so we brought him 10 Lbs of potato chips, which he loves so I think we nailed it.
It was such a nice evening sitting together and playing with the kids. Even though it was a wonderful trip and we had so much fun it was really nice to be home with my kids and husband.

First Day of School

While I was away the kids had their first day of school.
Zach is now in 6th grade and in our town they have a school just for the 5th and 6th graders.  Zach and I got to go and walk through the school during the summer so that helped him feel more comfortable for his first day.  We are lucky to live close to the school so the bus picks him up in front of our house. John stayed home so he could be there with the kids since I couldn't be.
Aaron is going into the 2nd grade and he is lucky enough to be in the same school with Katie.  The Elementary school is 2nd to 4th grade so this will be their only year they are together.
Katie is going into the 4th grade this year.  She has been a big help with Aaron and helping with going to this new school. We also walked through their school and she met another girl who is new that will be in her class so she had that to look forward to.
Katie did a great job getting herself ready since I was gone and she did her own hair and helped put their lunches together.  She is a great big sister and always looks after Aaron so I was so happy when I found out they were in the same school.
Katie and Aaron are picked up by the bus and they were so excited to get on the bus that Cooper tired to go with them.  It was a little hard not to be there with them but I was glad that John and Grandpa were there to help them.  I hope they all had a great first day.

Grandpa on Duty

While we were on our trip Grandpa was home in charge of my kids plus Susan's 2 kids.
Everyone loves Grandpa so the kids were happy to spend some time with him.
Zach and Katie were big helpers with baby Kaelyn and took turns feeding her and holding her.
They also spent lots of time outside with William.
The boys even taught William how to climb like a big kid.
They had a fun time hanging out together and Grandpa did a great job keeping everyone happy.  Thanks so much dad for staying home and taking care of our kids!!!

Last Day

On our last morning on the Island Jennifer, Susan, and I took a walk to the beach one last time.

We found some cool chairs someone make out of the rocks on the beach.
We walked on some rock cliffs and along the beach for a while then headed back to pack up.

Before leaving we took some pictures of our cottage.

It was a really nice place and the perfect size for us.  We had 2 bedrooms and a nice sized living room.

We had a porch to sit on and we took some pictures before leaving.
We had a blast on our trip and so many good memories were made together. This was a once in a life time trip and we were so happy to have this time together.

Scenic Prince Edward Island

We drove around about half of the Island on the North and the South sides and saw so many beautiful sights.
We had to search to find a light house and we were so excited to find this one it is no longer working but so cool right near the beach. I'm sure the view from up there is amazing.

The red sandy beaches were our favorite to see. The water was so cold but so beautiful next to the red sand.
We found this trail to the beach through the tall green grass so pretty.
There was no shortage of scenic views everywhere we went. Wish we could see it in all four seasons.

Walking Along the Red Sandy Beach

We had been waiting since we got to the Island for the sun to come out so the fist time it did we headed right for the beach.

We found a nice spot with a beautiful beach. The sun made it feel warmer so we were excited to go exploring.
Mom and Cathy were brave enough to venture into the cold water and they loved it. We walked around for a while and found some shells and red rocks to bring back home.

My crazy sisters Jennifer and Susan thought it would be fun to say they swam in the ocean while on the island so we came back later in the day to a beach close to our cottage and they ran out dunked in and ran back out very brave girls they are.
I love the sound of the ocean so it was so nice to just walk along the shore listening to the waves. My only wish would have been for warmer weather but with fall around the corner we were happy with the sunny afternoon we had.

L.M. Montgomery's Childhood Home

Our next stop was Lucy Montgomery's childhood home where she lived with her grandparents.
We started by taking a carriage ride around the property and right by the Lake of Shining Waters.

The lake is so pretty and really not that big but who knows what it look like when Lucy was young and wrote about it in her books.
We walked around the house and found out she was even married there in front of the fire place.
The house was cool but we really enjoyed walking around grounds outside.

Avonlea Village

Our second day started at Avonlea Village. Its a little town built like Anne's.  To our disappointment we were a few days late and they had closed for the season.  We were able to walk around but not go into anything.

The first building we came to was the school house.
They had a cute play ground with swings and teeter taters and a big sand box it was fun to act like kids again.
We were looking in though the window and I noticed it wasn't locked so I slid it open and Susan slipped in only to be caught by a worker and they were not happy that we got in the window but it was fun to get a picture.
We walked around and looked at all the buildings the only one open was the General Store and Susan bought a couple hats they had on sale.  It was sad that it wasn't running the was it was suppose to but it was still fun to walk around.

An Afternoon in Charlottetown

Our next stop was an afternoon of shopping in Charlottetown.
Charlottetown is right on the water so it was fun to walk around and see the boats out in the water and the sun finally came out so it was time for some Cows ice cream.
We had a fun time walking around and buying gifts in all the shops then it was time for a break in the shade.
We ended our day by going to Anne of Green Gables the Musical.  It was so good and the girl who played Anne did a great job.  The music was well done and we all really enjoyed it.  We had a great day full of fun but we were all ready for bed by the time we got back to our cottage.
